Chinese Americans

Covering the whole south-east Asian subcontinent with the likes of natives of almost 20 countries including China, Japan, India, Korea, Taiwan, etc, America is home to almost 22 million Asian Americans. Taiwanese Americans

Many Taiwanese immigrants did not settle in old Chinatowns because they did not speak Cantonese. Instead, they immigrated to American suburbia and started new Taiwanese communities. The first-generationfirst generation immigrants from Taiwan speak Mandarin, although many also speak Taiwanese “Hokkien” and “Hakka” languageslanguage.
